John James Audubon first saw this species in Key West, Florida.  It is a tropical ground dove and is a rare visitor to the Florida Keys.  This is not a bird you are likely to see.  It feeds on the ground under dense growth and eats fallen fruits, seeds, and small snails.  They live in the Bahamas, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
